Sascha Rathey has been engaged at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck and Symphonieorchester playing the piccolo/2nd flute since 2009, after having performed for a year as a scholar of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker under such well-known conductors as Sir S. Rattle, C. Thielemann, D. Zinman and K. Petrenko.
As a music educator she also directed the concert education program offered by the „Junges TSOI“ from 2010 to 2016, where she, amongst other things, also conceptualized, performed and presented concerts and workshops.
In addition, she devoted herself to a variety of chamber music concert activities with guitarist Daniel Müller (Duo Ohrwärmer).
Teaching and activities in the field of music education, such as the conception of children’s concerts, as well as further education measures in the fields of mental training and clownery, complement her versatile interests. Since 2019 she is active within the field of human rights education with Amnesty International Austria.
Born in New Zealand 1983, she studied with Jean-Claude Gérard (Stuttgart), Hansgeorg Schmeiser (Vienna), and with Davide Formisano (Stuttgart).
Concert tours with various orchestras and ensembles took her to China, South America and throughout Europe. She played regular projects at the Young Opera of the Staatstheater Stuttgart; several projects with the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, H. Rilling; concert in the Musikverein, Vienna, with Webern Symph. Orch, Pierre Boulez; she was a member of the Festivalensemble 2006, Bachakademie Stuttgart, H. Rilling as well as member of the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra 2007 (Ch. Eschenbach).
